Sharing and Listening Rewards Mechanism
Sharing and listening matter more than anything in music. This is a crucial part that truly makes great music appreciated and reach a large audience. Only through countless sharing and listening shall music find its best audience and leave a mark in people' collective memory. Hence Sonorus is designed with the idea that a music publishing protocol by nature should encourage more and more sharing and listening, so that great music is never left unheard.
Daily Sharing Rewards
For each active Music Copy NFTs, owners are entitled to collect sharing rewards once every day, as long as another user finishes listening to the full song via the owner's sharing. This is designed to encourage owners to share music with a broader audience. For example, if user A owns 10 active Copy NFTs of song ABC, everyday user A can invite at most 10 other users to stream the song via sharing and receive corresponding sharing rewards in RUS tokens when they finish.
Active Music Copy NFTs are eligible for sharing rewards in RUS tokens every day. Specifically,
The Copy NFT must be placed on a record player before 00:00:00 (UTC)
The record player associated with the copy must still be active at 00:00:00 (UTC) of the current day
Dynamic Rewards Amount
Building popularity of music is like building an ideological consensus among listeners. Therefore, Sonorus implements a dynamic rewards calculation system to incentivize music consensus. In this system, the amount of sharing rewards RUS tokens for each song varies based on the total active Copy NFTs ranking, and is dynamically calculated everyday. The higher a piece of music ranks in total active Copy NFTs owned by all users, among all the music in the Sonorus catalog, the more sharing rewards it receives the next day.
The detailed mechanism is below:
At 00:00:00(UTC) each day, Sonorus ranks songs based on the total amount of active Copy NFTs by percentiles. For example, if 100 songs have active Copy NFTs, and song A has the most copies, then song A ranks at the top 1%; song B is ranked at the 40th position, then song B drops at the top 40%.
For every 5% increase in the percentile ranking, the Sharing Rewards earnings increase by 0.5 RUS/Copy. The maximum limit is set at 10 RUS/Copy. For the bottom 10% of songs, the Sharing Rewards is fixed at 1 RUS/Copy.
In case of songs having the same ranking, the rewards are rounded down. For example, if there are a total of 100 songs with scoutable copies and the active Copy NFTs of the top 10 songs are the same, the Sharing Rewards for that day will be calculated based on the Top 10% percentile for all those songs.

Daily Listening Rewards
Listening rewards are designed to incentivize music listening by all Sonorus users. This allows users to easily explore the music on Sonorus catalog and find the pieces they love. Every time a user finishes playing a full song shared by others with active Copy NFTs and unfilled daily sharing rewards quota, the listener is rewarded 1 RUS tokens.
Each day, a user can earn at most 50 RUS by playing full pieces from other people's sharing links. Each song can reward the user at most 1 RUS each day, regardless of how many copies the user owns and how many times the user plays it. As a reminder, users have to finish playing the entire song to be able to claim RUS rewards. Sonorus automatically renews all users' listening rewards quota on (UTC 00:00) every day.
